I don't know for sure but the head and injection may be out of a 95 something (maybe Cherokee). The reason was the usual engine fire due to the plastic valve cover. I think the guy told me it has about 50,000 miles on it. What really concerned me was the plugs only show the tan/brown or burnt areas on one side of the plug. Usually the whole ceramic tip is discolored but in this case on five of them only half is. The other plug shows evidence of burning oil.
There is no unusual noticable oil usage. The insulators are undamaged. The plugs themselves only have a few thousand miles on them. I really can't remember if the whole engine was replaced or if it was just the top end. I didn't have it done, the guy I bought it from did and I don't know where he is now. It could be half 1982 and half 1995 for all I know. It wouldn't be older than that though.
I replaced the plugs today and took it to get it smogged (CA sucks for that) and because of the injection I now have to take it to a referee for approval. A different place didn't have any problem with it two years ago.
Just my luck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
