this is from a leaky (intake) valve seal. if it were black all around it would be from foobard rings. So is this serious or something I can live with for a long time? What other problems will it cause?

It doesn't really leak any. It might have a little on the engine but it seems to be normal. It does run better now that I changed the plugs though. Number 6 is burning some oil but it's not really visable in the exhaust, but it was on the plug. One of the reasons I asked if something could be wrong was because I thought it was under powered. I'd be lucky if I could get it up to 75 MPH on the freeway. To me that seems weak. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

the 258's get a little winded when running that fast... with how old the engine is and with it burning oil i'd say thats pretty normal.
usually you won't see oil coming out the tail pipe until you hit about 1 quart every 1000MI
