Where R U guys getting your muffler parts from?

Up here, ( hard to find parts) the local shop wants $330 for the after-cat bent pipe / muffler /tailpipe ... all to be hand bent. Price Includes all nuts and bolts etc.

My favorite US Mitsu supplier wants $56/ $153/ $ 39 ( total = 250$ ) for just those 3 pieces !!

Anybody got any better prices?

Ya know, the more I look at the design, the more pissed I get. No wonder this muffler lasted all of 1 yr. The angle which it sits causes all the condensation and moisture to pool at the bottom, causing rusted-out muffler syndrome in no time !!

Doesn't seem to matter what way I spin it, I am gonna get hosed. I can find cheap pipes( $30/ $20 ) , but the muffler is either CDN $185 ( Bosal?) or $235 ( OEM) plus tax.

As an aside, I had a "lifetime warranty" Topaz v6 muffler in there for the last year. But due to the last guy welding it in, the "lifetime warranty" apparently no longer applies. GR.

Are you body lifted. I think there is more room to work with non-stock pipes then. My turbo exhaust goes almost entirely stright back. Straight to where the rear seat / rear wheel well is, then a fog to the PS and straigh out the back. I have 2" BL.

If you're lifted, you can get away from the muffler angle that has to make its way over the axle.

Can you get JC Whitney up there. They have aluminized pieces including mandrel bent. Don't know how all the prices would add up.

yeah, they just hung the silencer in there at any old angle.

When i lost the head gasket on the yellow truck, it filled up the whole muffler. I got it sealed up again, restarted it- and freaked, because it blew about a quart out the pipe. Almost stripped it down again- but fortunately, sheer exhaustion prevailed, and I let it warm up, revved it hard a few times- and blew out the other quart! Then everything was fine.

oh, well...

Hmmmmmmmmm...

I am starting to think Cherry bomb glasspack

Can anyone do me a favour and measure factory V6 muffler can length? I would, but don't have the factory muffler. Also and ID/OD would be helpful if anyone knows it.

( Bosal?)

I called Bosal a few weeks ago. The guy I spoke with on the phone (and also their web site) indicated there are *no* mufflers for the SWB V6 in the U.S. I don't know if Canada is different. The few prices I found for the Bosal online (not that they'd be able to actually get the part anyway ) seemed to be about the same price as OEM.

I'm having the same problem as you, so I'd be very interested in a good solution...

I've got the old OEM muffler on my garage floor; I can get the measurements for you. I might not be back online until Monday.

The SWB V6 muffler is a very oddball part.

4-cylinder or V6? They're different. The SWB V6 muffler is also different than the LWB V6 muffler, which is what makes it such an uncommon part. *So far*, I've not been able to find an aftermarket muffler (EDIT: Bosal does list a part number for the SWB V6, but as I said it seems to be unobtainable at least for the time being). (There are aftermarket mufflers for the SWB 4-cylinder and the LWB V6).

280-157 is the Bosal part number for the SWB V6 muffler. It's still showing as being out of stock in all of their North American warehouses including Mexico and Canada.
