Alright i did my front brakes about 7k miles ago and there about 50 percent worn last time i looked at them. In the past year ive put 21k on my truck and the rear brakes are barely worn. What im thinking is the aal in the rear is making my LSPV think im braking hard everytime i touch the pedal and releasing my rear brakes. Does that make sense or am i just talking out of my <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> ? I am going to clean and adjust the rear tom so maybe that'll help some.

Also, I saw Rogers LSPV mod and my second question is: If i disconnect my LSPV, will the rear end be as likely to lock up if i have ABS? Thanks for any help

If the AALs made the rear a lot higher, the LSPV will think you have less load in the back of the truck and will reduce rear braking. It's not so much that the LSPV sees it as a hard braking situation. Should be a way to adjust the LSPV's arm to compensate, or you could remove the LSPV in favor of a manually adjustable proportioning valve (dial type) from Wilwood or the like.

And it ain't just ride height.......

Same-as-stock ride height with the new springs should make no diff in rear brake action, right?.....Wrong.

The new springs might ride at stock height, but allow more rear lift when braking....more rear lift means less rear brake action because proportioning valve actuating rod and linkage ain't been properly modified to match rear spring reaction to forward weight shift.

Do some measuring and the math and see if the new springs work with stock rear brake linkage geometry on paper. The worst that will happen is you get a headache and dull an already dull pencil. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I bet you can finger it out.

Adjusting the LSPV is easy. If you have X" of lift, simply raise the bottom end of the sensing rod X". How? Easy, take a piece of flat bar steel (1/8"x1" works well) or even a piece of strapping steel from the hardware store. Mark and drill 2 holes to match the 2 holes on the end of the sensing rod bracket. Measure up X" and mark and drill 2 new holes in the extension bracket. Use the 2 stock bolts to attach the extension bracket to the axle, use 2 new bolts (5/16" or so) to attach the end of the sensing bracket to the end of the extension bracket. You have now raised sensing rod an amount equal to the lift.

An even easier, and completely free, method is to just bend the rod.

My guess is, it has nothing to do with the LSPV. How often do you adjust your rear brakes? I would bet they need to be adjusted. Does your brake pedal go down farther than you think it should?

Then you will be just an 2-3 hour drive from cold beer and spicy BBQ! I'm near Alexandria Louisiana in the shallow rolling hills they call the terraced uplands that extend into Arkasas. Well I'm only 19 so I cant LEGALLY take your offer for some beer, but BBQ sounds good. I lived in morgan city til I was around 10 or 11 and moved up here with my mom. I miss the bayou.
The only thing stalling me is my rearend, my gears have been making noise for the last 5 months and i dont want to make a 9 hour trip with a bad rearend. So now im in the process of building mine.

Welcome home!

Don't sweat the rear end too much. Tote enuff tools to drop the rear drive shaft if you need to complete the trip on just the front diff. Most injured diffs do ok just rolling and not actually driven by the prop shaft.

And if you break down near here we can certainly patch it up easy enuff.
