Got everyones attention didn't I?
I have a chance to pick up an '85 4-runner chasis. Had a cab fire but drive train and frame not burned.
Is the frame of a 4-runner the same as a pickup? Wheel base? Body mounts? ETC?

Beat to fit, Paint to match
Need a bigger hammer and more paint.

Sort of... smile
If they are of the same basic year yes. It is the same wheelbase as a shortbed pu, and the body mounts are all the same till you get to the seats. from there back, the runner mounts are different from the pu ones. Easily cut and rewelded from the old frame, if you are swapping them.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Like bud said, it is close. The cab and front clip should bolt on, but the bed is where you will have to make adjustments. You could make it a flat bed and not worry about relocating mounts.
I hava a friend that has an 85 4runner and rolled it. He took an 86 extended cab and an old pick up bed and put them on the frame. Of course he had to cut the bed down a bit. Its now bobed and looks really good. He did nothing to the frame, ( as far as shortening it) but he did add some body mounts.

Yer kiddin'!
Not here.
The 4Runner to XtraCab conversion works really nice. You end up with a bobbed SWB XtraCab. I've seen several. If I ever rolled my Runner (God FORBID!) I would give it a go.
