Ok so i was talking with Frisky and we are wondering if there would be a market for a 12 bolt locker from powertrax? The 12 bolt is found in 89-98 model troopers i believe. We are trying to see if we can get people to commit with a deposit to start a batch of lockers. They would have to sell some to there Dist. as well to help get rid of some. Now i would only like those who are serious about this to reply. Frisky and myself would be the first two on the list. anyone else??

Drum brakes or disc on the rear axle? If disc, its a 12bolt. A '90 4WD should have a rear 12 bolt as the switchover was a year or so prior........ but Isuzu never really had a definite stopping/starting point for drivetrain parts (just used stuff until it ran out), so anything is possible.

All I'll say is if you toss these type of ideas out there, make sure you're committed to it. Those that helped organize the Tera and ARB group buys, i'm sure can attest to the work involved in trying to push something like this though.

That being said, you might wanna get a feel from the company if they're even interested if you could come up with the initial commitment. Powertrax just discontinued their 10-bolt locker not long ago due to lack of sales, my guess is, it will be a hard sale on starting a 12-bolt locker. Do some networking first, talk to some people, guage interest. From what i've seen in the past, slapping down a list of names cold turket doesn't stack up to a whole lot in the eyes of a manufactor. Unless they have money in hand, promises to purchase doesn't mean a whole lot.

not trying to be a buzzkill, but i remain skeptical <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Rob makes a good point. FWIW, Bill Cole w/ Aussie Locker has stated that they will include the Isuzu 12 bolt in their review of potential new products in January. The design of their prodcut is similar to the lockright.

Well, I want a locker, adn am saving for an ARB, as its all thats available...

BUT, I wouldnt even object to a lock-rite, especailly if its cheaper...

I guess I will have to watch this, if you can get s price per unit, adn its comparable to whats out there now for lunch box lockers... I will gladly put a deposit down... or pay for the whole thing up front...
Again..BUT...

My 2 cents

IMHO, this would be a more promising route to pursue than Powertrax(though why not pursue as many routes as possible). I know when the aussie lockers came out and got some good reviews, a handful of Isuzu people sent out e-mails to the TORQ Masters in interest of having something made for our rides. And from the responses I read, it seems like they were open to the idea if its worth their time. But the interest and enthusiasm also dwindled down rather quickly and not much has been said about it in a while (which seems to be a common trend, unfortunately). I'd love to hear that one of the initial people sending e-mails has kept some kind of steady contact with TORQ Masters ever since, but I'm not too hopeful.

If you are volunteering yourself to undertake this kind of endeavor, I'd suggest contacting TORQ Masters for sure:

I love my ARB, and will always consider a selectable locker the best option for an off-road used DD. But not everyone cares about road manners, or wants to drop that kind of coin.
