Let me reinforce what Rob said:

Talk with PowerTrax first. Peroid.

You want to find out a) are they even remotely interested and b) what would be their requirements to move it forward.

For both the front ARB and the Tera 5.38's, the general deal was a certian amount of deposits before moving into R&D. The deposits were refundable only if R&D proved the part to be unfeasiable or if the required number of deposits were not recieved. After that, those who put down deposits would pay the balance upon delivery.

Again, talk with them first. And make sure you talk with someone who is interested in keeping you up to date on information and someone who is remotely close to the decision making process. Also, try and get them to commit to some sort of time line. Make it flexable, but don't get into a position where it drags on and on and on. As a warning, PowerTrax, in general, has been slighly less interested in the past when it has come to Isuzu interests.

Personally, I would approach them and tell them that you will push for at least 50 deposits in a certian amount of time. They handle the money, you just get people to contact them. I would suggest something on the lines of a $100 or $150 deposit to start, or something close to 50% of the final price.

Things to remember, this is hands down the worst time of year to start this. Second, this is a long road. People are going to have to be pushed and pushed. Money talks.

Good Luck,
Michael

Put my name on the list.

Oh, and the 88 was the year the 12 bolt started. Some of the 87's had them as well.

This/These questions seem to come up frequently.

So I'll add to the mix <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

I've tried to email this crew a couple of times in Oz about their 'Lokka' which is very similar to the AussieLocker:

(For ISUZU Corporate 10-bolts)
http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/html/lokka.htm

But so far, they don't seem interested in shipping to the US, BUT they might get interested with a bulk shipment......

Some additional discussion here:

Having drop in lockers for both ends of the drivetrain would be awsomely kewl along with some aggressive marketing would probably mean some good sales, at least initially anyway.

Cheers,

Now that's interesting...have you found out what they mean by fitting "some" rear axles for Jackaroos?

Maybe they don't want to ship to the US cause it looks Interestingly similar to the loc-rite (even the packaging) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />

Just a thought

Well you guys have made some very good points. I will definately be thinking about what all i need to approach them with. I am glad to see people willing to commit. You have to think this is not just a investment for us but for the next gen of wheelers that would like parts for there zuzu rigs. I will be calling here shortly and talking with Powertrax and i should have a better insight on what all we need to do if anything to get this thing underway. I am just hoping they here us out. I do know that will take money i a hope those who have voted yes could come through even if its a $150 deposit. Worse case have them start production of the 10 bolt and then just throw on a set of manual locking hubs to disengage. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Aw hell, let's call a spade a spade -- we're talking about direct overseas copies of the PowerTrax (Vehicular Technologies Corp, Richmond Gear, et. al.) Lock-Right, or its ill-gotten just-barely-avoids-patent-infringement cousin from Tractech (Titan Wheel, Rosser, Dyneer, Transamerica, Genuine Gear, et. al.), the EZ-Locker. Lokka, Aussie Locker, and other making 'copies' overseas muddies the waters of conceptual creation and ownership... but keep in mind that the international distance/jurisdiction that prevents prosecution also complicates production (variations in steel quality), prices (currency fluctuations), delivery (cost, timelines, and customs), and warranty (business hours, business history).

FWIW, PowerTrax seems to have the widest assortment of Isuzu-fit lockers:

...even if one is discontinued and tough to get.

I recommend (knowing full well that the dollar talks louder than business ethics for many) working with PowerTrax as the best-ethics approach... but then again, I don't buy ripped DVDs when I'm in the Philippines, even at five cents on the dollar compared to real copies here in the states.

ummm <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> did you really come up with that wording on your own <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" /> I do like it though, I just personally think they are concerened with dealing with the american legal system which can be a PIA even when you haven't done anything wrong (I'm still saving that story for a campfire <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

I do think that PowerTrax is a viable solution if they are approached the right way, I bet they still even have a lot of the tooling templates hiding somewhere.

As for the DVD's, why buy ripped dvd's when there is NetFlix and e-bay? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, I followed the fights between Tractech and Power Trax for a while, back before Randy Tillman left them.
