Most 10-bolt rear axles out there are like 15-20 years old at this point, and they live in trucks that don't flex as well and aren't nearly as modifiable as their newer brothers. Not knocking the early Troopers, of course, I had an 86 quite a few years back. But the truth is they just don't flex as well, there's not nearly as many parts available for them, and Isuzu did a very good job of improving on an already great platform. The newer trucks just got better. In the meantime, the older trucks just got rustier. You show me an older Trooper with a 10-bolt rear without any rust and I'll be amazed.

Now, the 10-bolt didn't just disappear, it just moved up front in most of the newer trucks. But that being said, even crazy people like me don't particularly care for non-selectable lockers up front, so that's why the ARB 10-bolt got more support than the Lock-Right, or at least that's why the ARB 10-bolt is a better idea anyway... And that's why PowerTrax pulled the plug on the 10-bolt Lock-Right. The practical applications of this locker just don't have a lot of places to go.

That being said, when Isuzu replaced the 10-bolt rear with the 12-bolt, they kept using it... Right up til now. That means instead of just 3 years worth of trucks that it will fit, (86, 87, 88 Troopers) it will fit like 15 years worth of trucks, and 2 different models at that. So it certainly makes a lot more sense for them to forget about ever going back to the 10-bolt unless demand required it. In the meantime they can start thinking about a demand that would actually bear some fruit for them -- the 12-bolt being the common theme in 15 years worth of trucks, that's something anyone can sell. That's a market worth targeting, probably a bigger market than would be applicable for many other lockers...

Now if someone can put it to PowerTrax like that.......

very well put my man. I was pretty much on the same page in an earlier post when i said it would be better for sales for the rear as more people would want a rear and they are used from 89? +. I also agree with Frisky on letting Matt handle this so i am now handing this over to Matt. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> On a good note is is nice to see us pull together to get something done and not just talk about it. Matt If you could please talk with Powertrax on the development of the rear locker since that is what everone is pushing for. Also see how much they would want to start the R&D of the locker so we can start getting some funds together together to get this thing off the ground. Thanks again everyone for the support.
