i dont think i have an lsd but i may. I too will be in for a few lockers if needed to get this thing off the ground. A rear locker that isnt $800+ dollars without compressor is so much more nice to own. Come on Matt, tell us what we need. Ya know when Heeps see more and more troopers locked all they can do is look and wonder why?

Jaime, not to burst your bubble, but I think your troop's 12 bolt isn't the same as the one in discussion... dont quote me, but I believe thats the general understanding

Oh man, if someone can give me clarification on this I would really appreciate it. Soooo closeà

Open your hood and look at the option plate on your firewall, passenger side. Look for the 'G80' code. If it's there, then you should have the LSD. I also have an LS Trooper ('91) but I don't have it. It may have been a more common option with the auto trannie (?).

I'm also 'hoping' to get in on this deal as well.

Cheers,

As I said earlier in this post, I am in for a rear locker, it would be nice not to have to remain "lincoln locked", and I'd love to get one for the new troop as well. I guess that puts me in for 2 of them.

The newer troopers use a modified 12 bolt rear. That is that it is not the same as the ~pre 98 troopers. The modified 12 bolt uses a larger ring and pinion and shafts than the non-modified 12 bolt. The non-modified 12 bolt is roughly the size of a Dana 44, but larger. The modified 12 bolt is roughly the size of a Dana 60 (I believe, but may be wrong, but it is larger than the non-modified 12 bolt). Hope that helps some.

Just from a logistical standpoint, the 10-bolt locker isn't really a good bet to keep in the running for Powertrax -- so it made a good bit of sense to discontinue. Here's why...

Now, the 10-bolt didn't just disappear, it just moved up front in most of the newer trucks. But that being said, even crazy people like me don't particularly care for non-selectable lockers up front................ And that's why PowerTrax pulled the plug on the 10-bolt Lock-Right. The practical applications of this locker just don't have a lot of places to go.

-Chris

well.......that is totally incorrect. period...speculative or urban myth at best

Powertrax was sold a couple years ago (bought out rather) and Richmond gear just lopped off the low unit number seller. the Gm 10 bolt, was one..........the Isuzu 10 bolt was one.....and others. Just a NUMBERS/sales decision as far as i was told.

that being said........my pitch was that there was poor application guidance (ie as chris stated: it was marketed as a rear locker for 84-87 troopers and pickups )

only the "In-Crowd" knew or speculated that it fit the front.............those random shops and parts dealers across the US, or whatever who had no interest in Isuzu....look it up and don't see a front application....so the end result is lost sales.

Just a side note......i was told (IIRC) that the 10 bolt was a "Low Seller" at (as my contact recalled) about 175 units a year. So that is the kind of numbers that we were talking about.

as far as the 10 bolt...i can sell it. i could bve sold a lot over the last few years. Bottom line is we are going to have to go after that at the same time.they have already invested in it. it's ready to punch up ............

NOW.........the 12 bolt:

I can second the poor application guidance, when I ordered mine, the 4wd shop argued with me and said they won't refund it if it doesn't "and won't" fit.

After all my front end work, I was pretty confident

the 12 bolt.

it is a great idea, there is a good spot in the market for it and with some numbers i have always thought it could happen.

now to make a business case.............one would need some stats.........so lets get some facts and figures on how many trucks it owould fit. You know like some import numbers or something that shows business potential.

i'll take this on, no sweat, but remember we are conservatively talking months (possibly a year) on this to make it a reality. The Biggest plus on our side in my book is that there are other manufacturers in the game now.....especially when they know they are able to offer a lower priced alternative to applications that ARB offers. As well as the fact that there is overseas sales potential.

also serious gearing options like the Tera products make it look like a more "serious" crowd of enthusiasts than maybe it was 5 years ago when the locker was trickling along w/ poor sales.

yep....exactly my point..........the story i heard over and over............LOWEST COMMON DINOMINATOR.........if it ain't written in black and white, then most think it an't gonna fit

i guess they figure somebody knows more that they do, and if it fit they'd tell you
