regarding your searching problem...you need to put plus signs (+) in front of each search term. (e.g. "+22RE +valve +noise" instead of "22RE valvue noise")

they do tend to make a lot of noise...i also replaced my adjusting studs and that quieted mine quite a bit, but they still do make noise from time to time.

if i set the valve lash way too tight, they stay quiet, but having them too tight is no good, so i just live with the noise--which only gets loud once in a while.

one thing i have read about that i am thinking might be an issue is the possibility of the rocker arms "walking" off of the valve stem.

you know how the rocker arms can slide back and forth and there is a spring that is supposed to hold them in place?

assuming i am interpreting what i've read correctly, the rocker arm can, for some reason at some times, overcome the force of the spring and move around causing the typical 22RE valve noise to get louder and sound like a distinct tick coming from one source instead of the typical blend of many quieter ticks.

i've only read a little about it, so it would be cool if someone who knows more about it would chime in and help us both out. how can you tell if this is happening? how do you stop it (do you have to replace the springs)? is it a big deal?
