Overloading a 'yota not possible?
How about towing a 7500 pound trailer with a tacoma rater for 3500 pounds... granted it took awhile to get to speed... (a LONG while, heh).
Plus, 86-95 yoter's> you could overload those any day ( i did it to my 4runner) and it's fine, toyota designed these trucks to be 1 tonne's, the only difference from real 1 T's is the softer springs and non-floating rear axle... None of the american iron has done that.

Oh, and i agree for pure brute strength/power you have to go american (ex. my cuz just dropped his Taco' for a PSD f350 dually) but for what it is (in contention), a taco vs a ranger, tundra vs f150, i'd go 'yota any day.

Roll Me Over
I have to take issue with Toyota rating these trucks for 1-ton. Maybe in the 80's/early-90's they were overbuilt... but not anymore...

c-channel frames
rear leafs breaking on Taco's
rear axle seals going on the 4runners
etc...

They are good trucks - just not nearly as good as they used to be.

I have nothing important to say.

Amen brother. Axle housing on the T100s. Clutch pedal brackets on the 5spds.

If we don't complain to them, how will they know? Or do they want to hear? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
Let's not forget the flexplate and drag link issues.

All-in-All they are still better than most <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
