DRTDVL and Milan, thanks.

The only way to check the block for cracks is to disassemble it, hence the recommendation for a new engine.

I am more than willing to bet that a new set of rebuilt heads (or have yours rebuilt and checked for cracks, new HGs come with the job of course) and your problems will be cured. The valve job is difficult enough to not completely rebuild the heads while they are off. These HGs are known for failure, as well as the #6 exhaust valve. Sounds like double trouble to me. Just do as I reccommend above, and all will be well again.

Encouraging words. I appreciate it. What do you think could cause cracking in either the heads or block besides cold weather? All I need now is either a mechanic or a garage space to work. (The apartments where I live did not appreciate it when I did my drive belts, cap, rotor, wires and plugs in the parking lot :))

I'm not the original owner, so I have never called Toyota. What is the V06 campaign?
