In my opinion I think they did but when compared to a 1986 model, a 1987 Trooper turbo diesel is extremely rare.

When I bought my '87 gas new in August 1987 from a neighboring town, my Father-in-law asked why I didn't buy the diesel. I told him I wasn't given that option and didn't even know about it. I noticed it in the sales brochure and that was it. In addition there were no diesels on the lot of this dealer who was big enough to have many Troopers in stock back when they were selling like hot cakes and my local dealer had _none_ on his lot(hence the trip to the neighboring town).

Anyways, my FIL asked because a friend of his at work had bought a diesel and liked it. I always assumed that this friend bought not long before me, so therefore he would have got an '87 diesel. There is the possibility I could be wrong and this friend bought a little earlier than I presume and got the last of the '86 diesels.

Looking back on my experience, I have reached the conculsion that there were no diesels to sell in August 1987 and no one could order one. There were however, a few available earlier in the model year and my FIL's friend got one. I doubt this little data point of mine is much help but makes a nice story anyways.
