My '98 Trooper (83K miles) has a squeel coming from the front wheels. It is intermittent and only happens at higher speeds but not always. It does not change with engine RPM. I thought it was a break pad wear indicator but I pulled the calipers off all four wheels and the pads look fine and no sign of contact of the metal wear indicator on the rotors. I repacked the front bearings and the noise seems to be less noticible now but still there at times. Would worn wheel bearings make a squeeling noise? How about CV joints?
