Body Damage is Cool
Well I've finally tracked down an XS instrument cluster. I understand that its just a 5 minute swap but if I want to swap out my speedo how hard would it be? Thanks

Clarify a bit -- are you meaning to swap out the whole cluster (which is pretty simple) or swap out the cluster without changing the speedo/odometer (which is nigh to impossible, considering the plastic molding).

Neither is theoretically impossible, but the former would be a breeze, and the latter would require lots of trail and error, along with meticulous cutting and assembling skills.

Um, I'll do the best I can at this. (Not the most articulate and detailed in my manner)

I want to remove the entire old cluster, take the speedo out incase theres a large difference in mileage (forgot to ask) And taking the speedo from my old cluster and putting it into my new one, which contains the tach and everything. I'm just not entirely sure what that will entail. Thanks for helping me out guys <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Take a peek at the parts when you get 'em both side by side -- I think you'll dismiss this idea. There's QUITE a bit involved with that.

You could get one with lower mileage and run an electric drill to reset the correct mileage, OR, just don't worry about it and add or subtract the difference in your head.

I could care less about mileage, mine has been 10% off in the 20k I've had my new tires, and broke/stopped at 154k, haha. Does that mean my engine will run forever?

Roll Me Over
When we had a cluster replaced on a work truck with a used unit, they put a dymolabel on the bottom of the face of the speed stating the approximate amount that the speedo is off. It is under the lens of the dash, so it isn't easy to remove.

You need to do something like this in order to greatly simplify the process when you attempt to sell the vehicle.

Sc0rp10n, is there any chance you could take close up pics of where the connectors go in on the cluster? I've just gotten a UK Spec Frontera Sport cluster that I'm gonna try to use, but the connectors are different, so I have to re-wire them. It'd just save me time from getting mine out, just to put it right back in while I try to figure out the new wiring paths.

Here's the one I've got now:

Getting the Wheeling Fever
So the amigo XS cluster is just a plug in swap. How about the windshield wiper/washer switch?
I got a wiper/washer switch with the intermittent wiper button. I was trying to get rid of my mist button. I thought it was a plug in swap as well but when I did the swap and gave it a try everything worked but the INT button. I got the switch out of a rodeo, I can't remember the year, I compared both switches side by side and they're very similar, and the plugss are the same. So any ideas of what I might be missing? My next project after the wiper switch is the xs cluster! Thanks

Salvador

I'm not certain but the wiper motors might be different. Someone else can correct me.
