In order to switch from the 'mist' wipers to the 'intermittent' wipers, you have to swap out the buttons cluster on the side, but you also have to swap the relay under the hood in the fuse box. The mist wipers just have a connector with a wire jumping to connections. In order to have the intermittent wipers you have to replace this with the relay that's meant for it.
