Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I want to get my dad a set of wheels and tires for his F 250 heavy duty powerstoke desiel truck. Its a 97 and came equiped with 16's. Was wondering of I could get him a set of 15's, 33x12.5x15 to fit on his truck because it would be cheaper than 16's. If i have to get 16's what size would be good. There is no lift and its a 4x4. Want something a little beefier than stock. Im thinking ill get a set of Micky Thomson's classic II in 15x8 with 33's mounted. Will this work? What backspacing do I need? Thanks Guys. Stinson

cheapest route and best wearing tire is 315-75-16. Its a 35" tire and bf goodrich allterrian. They are the same tires that are on the hummer. It will give his truck 3" lift. You will spend less $$ if you get these tires then getting 15's. The Mickey Thompsons, no matter what make or model they burn off fast on road use. If he has got the aluminum rims on the F250 take them into a speed shop and have them high polished. They will have the weld draglite appearance. Hope this helps!

I am far from an expert in this area, but I have a '97 F-250 PowerStroke and I believe that 315x75's will require at least a 3" body lift if you want to avoid clearance problems with the front tires. You also might want to consider 305x70's which acutally put more rubber on the road, but are not quite as tall.

I have a 87 F150 that have 35" tires and my truck isn't lifted and the 250 is a bigger truck. The other tire that works well are the Hercules the have terrific handling.

I don't know how many tire shops you have in your area but in SE Michigan Detroit sub. there are a ton. The best thing to do is go visit a few tire shops in your area. They should be able to tell you what will fit and what won't. No cost out of your pocket if they mount a tire and it rubs. But don't take one shops word for it becuase they always push inventory and or high dollar items, so shop around.
I don't think 15" will fit on a F-250 powerstoke becuase of the brake disc and caliper size.
