The February issue of Four Wheeler magazine features an article, on pages 46 & 47, where they took five pre-production Hummer H3s out on a Rubicon joyride.
I grumbled as I read that the new H3 will most likely come with 33-inch tires as standard equipmentà and I mumbled something unpleasant when I saw that it will feature the venerable GM inline 5 cylinder engine, and 4L60-E transmission, from the TrailBlazer/Envoy/Ascenderà
But then I saw something that REALLY got my attention:
Listed in the Specifications side bar - there it was - as plain as dayà
ôTransfer Case: Isuzu D-Max part time two-speedö
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />
And on page 18 thereÆs another mention of the H3, wherein is says that there will be an optional 4.0:1 Borg Warner t-case.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmà
I started doing a little thinkingà
The 4L60-E was used in some of our Isuzus, right?
And the TOD system in the VXs & Troopers was a Borg Warner t-case, right?
And many Isuzu t-cases can be interchanged/swapped for the TOD case, right?
SOà Is it just me, or is it possible that the new H3Æs 4.0:1 Borg Warner t-case will bolt-up to just about ANY Isuzu automatic transmission? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
Oh yeah, and another thingà
Does this mean that weÆll have to welcome the future Hummer H3 folk as honorary Isuzu owners? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
Cheers! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
