Need a Spot
Greetings. I have 59k on my 2000 4Runner Ltd, and I'd like to change the thermostat on my next annual coolant flush. Could someone please tell me if the thermostat is connected to the upper or lower radiator hose? I had a '90 Integra, and the thermostat was connected to the lower radiator hose. Thank you.

Are you sure it's the upper hose on the 5vz? I could have sworn it was the lower hose off the radiator, which enters the engine about mid-height on the driver's side.

The thermostat located on top of the engine, top house that goes from a top of the radiator to the engine block, very easy to replace. I just had timing belt, water pump and thermostat replaced last month. Tokk me about 3-4 hours

The house you're talking about enters water pump.

Here's a pic showing the thermostat located in the middle of the engine feeding the lower hose. [Linked Image]
