I have to weld some reinforcement on a back frame that's rusting out. I don't want to smoke the electronics on my 2.6mpfi in the process with my arc welder. Any tips on isolating the electrical system so I still have a working vehicle when I'm done or is it a non-issue if I keep the ground close to the site of the welding?

Pull the negative cable off the battery and as you said, keep the ground lead close to where you are welding. If you are still worried, disconnect the ECU.
Good Luck, Michael

Thanks. I figured it was that easy, but never hurts to make sure.

I never disconnect my battery or anything, I probably should but IÆve never had a problem. I wouldnÆt worry about it.
