Well, I've been reading up on everything to do with IFS suspension, in preparation for a BJ flip and low-profile bumpstop installation tomorrow or the day after, and I have a few questions about a little mod that ExpeditionsWest did:

I kind of like his approach to this: regaining some more absorbtion with the shock, especially with the low profile bumpstops.

has anyone else done this, is it worth it, and out of curiosity, if you went ahead with this mod and didnt grind down/replace the bumpstops, could your shocks possibly bottom out and break the mounts?

Anyways, just a few random questions from a bored guy at work <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
We could all speculate and tell you Santi that for 92-96 year troopers you need to add 1/4" to the shock and remove 3/4" for the bumpstop and add 1/4" to the upper bumpstop and put 3mm holes diagonally into the rear bumpstop but only at a 30 degree angle but do not do this on isuzus between 92-94 etc etc. etc. etc. etc.

My point is that there is no hard and fast rules that may apply to all the different isuzu trucks and you might just have to test some stuff on your own truck.

Everything from age, year, kind of shock, width of spacers, how much lift, etc, will determine what you are asking.

If I were you and I cared enough to get every possible milimeter of suspension travel out of the front end, I would disconnect your torision bars and cycle the suspension with the shock on to see what happens.

You could then make adjustments from there.

Roll Me Over
On an IFS Isuzu the suspension travel is limited by the droop and compression bump stops, NOT the shock. If you are running low profile compression stops you will need a shock that will compress more, in which case this mod is exactly the opposite of what you want. If you are running lo-pro droop stops you want more extension, which this will give you, but then you will bottom out on compression. Either way IMHO this isn't a good modification. You really need to simply find a shock that has the correct amount of travel.
