That's the idea...they basically gave the engine two sets of runners and a valve dictates which set is in use at any given time.

When I first got my Passport(Rodeo), I thought it was just OK. SInce the tranny rebuild(with higher line pressure and better torque converter), the power is really noticeable. this sucker can haul some .
Just FYI, according to the guy who rebuit the tranny, the 4L30E has one the lowest line pressures on any tranny, resulting in the soft shifts and squishy feel(perfect for soccer moms).

I must say that Ashby's Rodeo hauls It literally PULLS you into the leather seat and continues to pull hard until it hits the final gear. I wish my trooper had the 3.2

(Supercharger)
Ask Nazrat about his, he has one on his VX. I've riden in it, it will scoot.

That's an understatement!

Maybe Tad didn't use quite as much skinny pedal with Joe as his passenger...
To describe my ride in that silver beast, replace the word 'scoot' with 'HAUL ' !!!
It's actually pretty cool to look out of the side window and watch as an entire forest turns into a non-descript fuzzy green blur!

As for the Bigpoppa family Rodeo-Portà
That thing has taken off in front of my 5-speed / SOHC 3.2 Rodeo, and left me like I was sitting still. --- Between the DOHC engine, and the auto/torque converter, it has A WHOLE LOT MORE PEP than mine!

Cheers!

At least it made an impression on someone. Next time I'll turn on TOD and we'll do less fishtailing smile

I've always liked the performance from my 3.2 Dohc motor. Never had issues with passing power, or off the line torque.

Maybe a few years down the road Id be interested in the supercharger. Its not so much the cost of the SC, its the cost of the speeding tickets that will come with it.

Ashby

*Chris, Glad you enjoyed the ride!

The power sure is nice on the rodeos, imagine the same motor in a little amigo

Hmm, line pressure is low ehh? Since we like to get up and go, is there any way to beef up the line pressure? I wanna find some neet little tricks like that to beat these 4 bangers who think they can win anyone. (because they race trucks like the amigo, which they think has an itty bitty motor like them )

My 99 Trooper had them, and AFAIK the 99 Amigo/Rodeo does too...not sure when Isuzu started using them.

AFAIK, it was in 98 when they reintroduced the Amigo and revamped the Rodeo (and the 3.2L). I remember seeing a big write-up about it in my 98 dealer booklet, about how it was new technology and all that jazz...

HTH,
Chris

There is a way to boost line pressure. The Trans-Interceptor does that and it delays the torque converter lockup. Do a search for more info on it. I think that Tone sells them.
