If it's jerky, it has no fluid. The fluid slows down the movement.

My girl just bought a 4runner and it has one it it also. but i watched her guage and it was not as jerky as mine so this led me to suspect a problem. the funniest part is that i could have got one from the junkyard like ten times and kept passing them up!!! .

Just be careful not to drop it once it's empty. The plastic carrier inside is very brittle and it may end up looking like this: ![[Linked Image]](http://home.comcast.net/~toddstidham1/pichost/IM_DOH.jpg)

I have a nice idea for you.. Why don't you buy a real gyro and put in there instead of the ball? Put it next to the dash between the inclinometer cluster, and replace the original inclinometer with an altimiter. Could be cool EDIT: Found the price for aircraft gyros, pretty expensive But if you have $700 that you can't figure out what to spend them on, check this out: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/in/gyros.html
