A lot of people are going straight to the forums these days with out doing some simple research on there question. We are all very happy to help every one out there to the best of our abilities, but it becomes quite tedious continually going over and over the basics to the newer members. There is a Huge source of information available here at 4x4wire. Please Check out the
Jeep tech pages, most of the simple questions can be answered by them, and more. If you have difficulty understanding them, go ahead and post asking about the specific problem you are having.
Also, there is a distinction between forums. Talk is really for... talk.. EX. I just went to trail X and had a great time, jeep drove well, only broke a small number of parts... ETC. Talk is the place we want opinions and chit chat. I really won't even police talk posts that arenÆt about jeeps unless they are just stirring up too much trouble... Post like Hey my son was born last night, or did you see that last episode of _______ I thought it was cool.. In talk IÆll let anything go down as long as it isn't against the rules.
Tech usually has to do with repairing or getting info on specific parts. EX. How many splines on my T-case input shaft? My jeep is making a clunking noise under bumps on right turns. I popped the clutch really hard the other day and now it vibrates going down the road at 50 MPH.... ETC
We'd like all the tech questions in tech and talk in talk so that if someone goes about performing a search they can narrow down there results in categories of talk and tech....
Some of the even more common questions are posted below.
Again, the answer and a good explanation to most general knowledge questions can be found
here . IE what is a locker? ; What is a CV drive shaft ETC. If you ære new to Jeeping or wrenching I HIGHLY recommend looking through
this section.
What size tires will fit under my stock wrangler (87-95)?
30X9.5 will fight without rubbing. if you want the biggest meats that won't rub on any of the metal fender parts, 32X11.5's will fit, but they will rub the springs on a full lock turn, and seriously rub the plastic fender flair.
I put bigger tires on my jeep and now when i turn to the lock, my tires rub. how do i fix this?
