New BudBuilt crossmember installed.. #54854 06/09/03 07:11 AM

Well, here it is.. The new crossmember is in and ready for the rocks at Paragon!! The paint looks nice, but it is just Krylon spray can red.. I like it, it seem bigger but looking side by side, you can see that the new one is at least 1" lower, but the real purpose of this monster is to protect and serve.. I can not wait to give it hell and see what she will take awn.. I really like the skid plate fully wraping the transfercase.. My stock one was kinda wraped around the transfer case

Without further ado, here are the photo's... (and please.. no smart @ss comments about my workbench..)

Looks sweet! How much clearance did you gain? I'm real interested because my '95 has the same transfer case.

You're keeping your rig nice and shiny! Rust has been getting to mine REALLY bad

Eli... I think the true clerance is about 1" to 2".. But you can only gain so much with the design of the drivetrain anyway. However, you do get one hell of a protected drvetrain.. I very much like the skidplate and just how much it covers the transfercase. Here in Mass we are so limited with lift laws, I think anything over a 1" body lift would make my truck too high now. So I gotta liver with it and drag her over some stuff here and there..

Lee, I don't see anti-seeze on those bolts... But I assume you put something on them. Never really looked closely at a v-6 xfercase - looks like it hangs a little lower than a 22re gear case. Gotta love buds stuff ;-)

Come awn David.. you know me better than that.. Look at the third photo, on the frame next to the crossmember you can see some.. It is the copper though, and I put it on the bolts shafts after I had them started.. I didn't want the mess as I was trying to line it up.. I did neversieze it all, in fact, the tranny mount bolts are covered by the skid plate when it bolts on, so I covered the heads with a glob I also coated that square pipe spacer on the right where it made contact..

Now don't forget, that is the new design of Bud's crossmembers.. I have the very first one out the door.. (Yea, I am gloating...)

Lee, see, I knew it was on there. Must have missed it cause I got distracted by that sweet workbench (sorry couldn't resist). Gotta love kids, huh.
Looks good. Sometimes 1 or 2" is all it takes
to prevent you from getting hung up. My stock xmember was seriously beat up before I replaced it
with a budbuilt.

Looks sweet. How did you support the drivetrain during installation. It looks like it covers a lot.

What is the difference between the new and old design? Did i read that right that the new design doesn't clear as much?
