Toyota outfits its overseas hilux's with beefed-up idler arms. I noticed this when looking under a new 3.0L TD hilux at a dealer in thailand. Everything is the opposite since it's right-hand drive, but my feeling was the idler arm could work on either side. I guess my point is (1) there is an OEM solution and (2) Toyota has recognized the idler arm as a weak link in an otherwise pretty strong IFS design.
