Getting the Wheeling Fever

I've been searching for 4.88's for a while and thought I finally found one in an '89 auto 3.0 4runner. The door jamb code listed G254, which is 4.56's. I'm confused on what exactly contains the 4.88's. After researching, it seems only the auto 22re's with 31" tires have the 4.88's. Is this true?
