Lets see where shall i start...
I think its two things
1. contacts on starter 2. battery cables
let me explain why.
1. a long time ago, it did the click click start thingy, then that went away. 2. i blew some fuses couldnt figure out why, took it to the stealership they said battery cables, replaced fuses, things are ok
Heres the wierd thing. When i get up in the morning, i start it it turns over like 3 times, then dies, out of juice, click click click. Ok now the weird part, the second i put jumper cables on, it doesnt need ANY time to charge. It starts up with full power on the starter.
I have cleaned the terminals, but only a half <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> job. So today, now that i have time i will test all wires and see how much juice the battery is really pushing.
the alternator was replaced a year and a half ago, but it is a reman.
kevan
thanx guys

i am about to dig into this same-sounding situation. i can only get the vehicle (88 trooper II) to start when i 'fred flintstone' it up to speed and pop the clutch and then crank it. whabamm it runs good. otherwise the ignition just grinds. same piggybacked solenoid on the starter and right now i am going by the Haynes book. once i remove the starter, how can i test it or the solenoid? advice? gracias. mpH

I dont know exactly how to check a solonoid, you can hook it up to the battery and see if it works. The thing i would look into is the contacts, they could get all gunked up.
