For those curious, go to

http://www.fivethirty.com/misc/gears-tires-rpm-mph-conversions.xls

and download or run the spreadsheet I've put together. Keep in mind that I'm not an expert on this, this info is just what was passed on to me.

For those without the ability to run Excel spreadsheets:

(transmission X diff X t-case X 336 X MPH) / Tires (inches) = RPM

Transmission gears
First: 3.918
Second: 2.261
Third: 1.395
Fourth: 1.000
Fifth: 0.829
Reverse: 3.925

Diff gears
4.625
4.88
5.29

T-case gears
1.925
2.850
1.000 (to get RPM for 2WD or 4-HI)

If you need to use an Excel spreadsheet and you don't have Excel, go to www.openoffice.org and download the free office suite from there. It's about 95% MS Office compatible with word, excel, and powerpoint clones that run on Windows, Mac, Linux, Solaris, freebsd.

I dont think they are available for any of the high pinion 8 inch front axles. That would be all genII's with either a 3.5 or a 3.0 manual.

Do you want a 7.25 front axle and a 5.29 gearset?

Awesome job Frank!

I know I'm interested in a gen I v6 Auto set along with the xcase gearing (as soon as I can afford all that).

If we ever find a set for the gen II 3.5, I'll probably also be interested (when I get one) . I'm just thankful that 4.90's are good enough to run 35's on that rig, oh and of course the gears your currently developing for that as well.

BTW, is anyone going to be beta testing your 3.5 xcase gears?

Ray

Have we heard a price yet? I was thinking maybe I'd get them now, and when I finally take over the wife's '95 for a trail rig, I'd have the gears on hand
