I seem some nice rubber coated grant steering wheels all the time. I think this might actually be better than the old hard tractor toyota wheel. Are they worth the money or the luxury i should say.?

I have a grant that came with the truck. Kind of small for my liking. The horn was relocated to the dash. I wish I had the stock one. Because, when you get wheeling your forever turning on that small wheel. Plus, while I am driving on the street the wheel gets in the way of the speedo. A distraction I dont care to have. Seems harder to turn with the smaller wheel. If you do get one I would stay with the same diameter. Looks are nice but not worth it. If you go smaller. Just my op.

I to had a Grant. It was on another truck. A little smaller then stock, and closer to the dash. I ended up bending the turn signal and wiper switches because they were too close to the wheel.

The steering was quicker with the smaller wheel, which was nifty on the street, but not sure I'd like it off road. In fact, I'm sure I wouldn't.

Currently running stock with no plans to change. If I want softer padding I'll put on a steering wheel cover. I've got one or two of those foam lace on covers in the basement somewhere.

I have a Grant GT steering wheel in my 87. Even with the hydro-assist it is a PITA to steer when in 4WD. It is easy to steer on the street, but the box has a lot of play in it. I was considering getting one for my 94, but I don't want to lose my cruise control functions.

Once I get my hydro-assist steering fixed I'll be installing a smaller Grant wheel. On the steering, I suspect your hydraulic ram is worn out if you are not getting full boost. I have been fighting this for about 6 months now and after long discussions with Howe Performance, we can decided that the problem is likely in the ram. Little known fact is that they use o-rings internally for a seal on the piston and then had teflon rings on either side. When the o-ring goes, you still get some boost but there is a lot of leakage and now the ram turns more into a super-duper steering stabilizer instead of a power-assist device. I'll be getting a new ram for mine and then getting the old ram rebuilt, but accoring to the Howe folks, rams should be rebuilt once a year if not sooner. The guy was saying that the race trucks that use their stuff, rebuild the rams after every race.

And the other problem with the ram o-ring goes, pieces of it can get sucked through the plumbing into the steering box and plug up ports and valves inside it.

When I got my truck it had the funky small Grant. I hated it. I changed out to a bigger Grant that was too deep, so I cut the three spokes, hammered the hub flat, then welded it back together. I had to bend the turn signal back a bit but overall it's much better. I'm tall so it makes a big difference in a small cab. Cheap, functional, and a bit ugly but that's okay, my truck is for recreation only.

my bro gave me his old MOMO out of his jetta, i like it cuz the smaller diameter helps me get my legs in and out, the blocked speedo issue doesnt bug me cuz i am too tall to see it with a stock wheel anyway.

only grant i would run would be the luxury looking ones, and i'd lose my cruise function. which i might lose anyway with the future 3.4 swap. But i like stock wheels b/c they were designed for the vehicle. so you can see the gauges and it works well. I have a small grant on my Supra, not bad for a sports car wheel. i like it. however i like the 15/16" wheels rather than 13" wheels or whatever. especially for a truck. my stock 94 wheel is in ruff shape, if i can't find a good stock one on ebay, i'll probly just wrap it with a cover from the parts store... wrap it real tight...!

actually th cruise function is pretty simple to fix, notice the black rocker switch located next to the "clutch start cancel switch" and the other one on the center console. those are my new cruise switches, the accelrate and slow down ones stick down so i can hit it once and blast off down the higheway lol
