With no (zero) lift the front Scout d44 pinion angle and caster won't be a big problem. However, the front axle will need to be narrowed or you have to make or buy outriggers for the frame.

The best solution is to keep the gears out of the scout ft axle and scrap the rest.

Idealy, a better ft axle is a narrowed waggy and do a 5 on 5.5 spindle hub conversion.
The wag set up gets you better steering (possible flat tops)and braking and better stronger lock out (internal hubs).

Congrats you have jumped headlong into the wonderful world of what I do every day.

The reason I don't recomend outriggers is because Cj frames are not that great when new, much less 20+ years old.

The rear axle is good!
