I have a Warn Trans4mer brush guard winch setup. A friend of mine has a 12,000 lb warn winch that he is wanting to get rid of. My plate says it can take up to a 9,000 lb winch, why only that much? Will his winch fit on my plate. Why will this or won't this work? Thanks for any info on this subject.

Im new to tacos, but I would assume its 9k for one or both of these reasons:

1) The mounting point (transformer mount) is only rated at 9k due to the build, and design, its just not rated for a 12k pull

2) the 12k warn is a larger winch in itself and wont fit in

I figured thats what it meant but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a recomendation. Like the speed your recomended to go around a corner at or the size tire your supposed to use... Heck with recomendations <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

You might look at the Warn Magnum line if you are on a budget. Chinese, but they look not to be too bad.
