Maybe so David but I never saw a Jeep with them both! What I derive from this is you do not have the original engine in there. What is wrong with the existing pump? Please if you are going to change things just for the hell of it...change the seats or something that does not tend to leave you beside the road somewhere.
Is your Jeep VAPOR LOCKING now? If so it just might be the only one in the whole USA! The fuel pumps issued by the factory are near bullet proof! If yours is not doing it's job I have 2 new ones in my shop, I will be happy to ship you one of them just to keep you from making a mistake.
Fool around with wheels, tires.. even a different steering wheel! But leave all that after market engine stuff alone if the factory stuff works.

My '86 CJ has both. one sender for the idiot light and one for the gauge. However, I too have never heard of a Jeep 258 with a vapor lock problem. Can't imagine wanting to change the Cheap and reliable OME setup! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

On second thought! Pete are both of yours wired? If so the "other one" is for the computer? Maybe the computer has a low pressure cut-off? Just a thought. Might be something to do with a rollover switch.

The wires are there, I don't have a computer. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> I know there is an oil light in the speedo cluster and the oil pressure gauge in the dash was standard. The oil light has never worked (like most lights in my dash) but I assumed that was what the other Switch/sender/whatever was for. I could be wrong!
