Not saying you won't get lucky, but as relatively cheap as they are, and with no additional work, it just seems wise to me to go ahead and replace the slave cylinder when doing the MC. They are really annoying when they decide to not hold pressure, and that can occur in the worst, most remote conditions. Or on the way to work. Just not worth it IMHO.

I totally agree. Its a real challenge to get into gear with a bad slave and could leave ya stranded if you havnt mastered the art of shifting without the clutch by the rpms. Im just one to take chances to avoid extra work. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
Its also a good idea to replace the slave when replacing the clutch because the slave piston will be travelling farther in the bore to disengage the new clutch. The bore can be rusted and pitted where the piston hasnt travelled in a long time, causing the slave to leak and loose pressure.

i had a slave blow up on me 30 miles from nowhere and it wasn't fun! at least i made it to a gas station and bought some brake fluid so i could use my clutch when i got back into the city. starting when i got stranded was a big challenge -- put it in 1st, crank the motor over and gas it!
