Sorry for the rookie question, but do these lights mean the alternator is out? Does it need replacement or parts, anything else I need to check or swap out? I need to get back on the road quickly.
Thanks for your advice.
Mark

To add, also check your brake and clutch fluid levels; lights are triggered when they're low/depleted.

sounds like your alternator took a crap. If theres an autozone around there will be able to test it under a load while its still in the truck.

not to highjack post but does autozone and/or advance also have a diagnostic tool to hook up and tell exactly why engine light is on??.. the paper clip is good but gives like 5 possible problems.

I'm between toyotas right now... 3rd Gen 4-runner soon.

If you're throwing multiple codes, then you need to figure out how one thing affects another.

FSM TIME <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />, also, check the tech articles HERE TPS and 02 sensors can toss a lot of stuff off kilter.

Ok, I went to the dealer and got the part for $18.36, printed off the instructions, and, "I'M GOING IN!".
Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it goes.

May as well replace your belts while you're in there.

Have fun!

Did the deed with the instructions and parts on this site. The model of truck in the instructions must be a different year, since my 87 only had the one bolt on wire and then the clip on connection, whereas the other one had three hookups.
Thanks, guys. This site is the only way I can keep this truck!
