Stuff I need: go to Puerto Rico and find a Cabrio and import as "off road only-unliscensable ever... I'm thinking that I get someone to carefully cut off all the relative points of fitment and I reinstall. Then it will still be my original VIN, etc. I'm thinking if you cut them off down to the horizontal seam that runs around the body, you'd be in good shape to put them back on in the right place. And I'll bet shipping would be much less...

Whole body shell firewall back - you still keep the same VIN (in GA, anyway) and don't even have to get a new roadworthiness inpsection because you only replaced one major component. If you started from a first vehicle with a salvage title, it wouldn't work because of the State patrol roadworthiness inspection. All that assume that the first car VIN tag just happens to jump over the the new body shell while the new windshield is being installed (why ship a heavy windshield that you are going to replace?).
I saw a Cabrio version with a hard fiberglass removeable rear roof section AND the folding rag top. That's what I want - been too many miles with a ragtop booming at speed already for a steady diet of the same again...
