Got some old bubbly window tint that needs to come off. Saw some removal liquid stuff in the store, but don't want ta spend the $7.

What can be used in conjunction with a razor blade?

thanks,

Hair dryer or hot air gun.

Finger nail polish remover (cheaper than going and buying a whole quart of acetone at NAPA). Do NOT use in conjunction with the hot air gun; flammable!! Use it to remove any remaining residue once the film has been removed.

Anything with AMONIA in it. Get a corner to lift and start soaking the backside and working it off with the razor. When most of it is off, wash the glass with a good 90% rubbing alcohol.

Just to throw a kink in it, what if it's on your rear runner glass and you don't want to jack up the defroster dooma-hickie wire-a-ma-bobs?

If Mad Max had a 4runner...

Do what I did with my original 4runner rear window....work on the mechanism and then shut the tailgate while the glass is in the half up position. Excellent safety glass...I didnt get more than 2 light cuts from those thousands of perfectly shaped square remnants. Fun part was ordering the new glass...which I promptly tinted prior to installing. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> LOL

No advice for you on the defroster protection...sorry.
