I wish I had a picture but the camera died.
First I disconnected the battery and took it out of the vechile. I knew I had a wiring problem and the battery is completly dead.
My step dad was supposed to bring over a multimeter to start diagnosing the problem. He forgot it but we took a look at it anyways.
What we found when we took off the heat sheild in the pass side fender to get a better look at the starter was the wiring that was wrapped in heat protectant tape had been resting on the header. Everything was toast. There were about 12 wires in that casing. After stripping all the crap off the wires, we found about 5" of wire on all the wires were without any rubber insulation and most of the wires just fell apart.
The question is what do I do now. We found good wire on both side and don't have any reason to beleive there is any other damage. It would be a major PITA to fish all of that wire out from the main wiring harness.
Do you think I could just cut all the bad out and soder new wires in? The gauges are not all the same so I would have to figure out the gauge of each but that wouldn't be to hard. What do you think?
