If you have any tricks for not making a mess when changing the oil filter on the v6 please let me know! I thought I had the secret today.. I sharpened a brass pipe, connected it to my pnumatic oil extractor and tried to jab it into the oil filter to suck out all the oil before I unscrewed it. Looked great on paper!! Unfortunately.... the Toyota filters are tuff and the rod wouldn't go through it. I ended up jabbing it with a screw driver and then sticking the oil extractor tube into that hole and it made 95% less mess than a normal filter swap, but I still had oil to clean up.... so what's the secret to do it with no mess???

On the plus side, I learned that the oil extractor works awesome! I sucked the oil out the dip stick hole, then pulled the drain plug to see how much was still in there. Not one single drop came out!! Here's the oil extractor, it works slick:
