When I change my oil I drain the oil pan first and then take off the skidplate and put the bucket directly under the filter and unscrew it...works great. I used to have a huge mess when it would drip down onto the skidplate and leak everywhere. But maybe try that next time its only four bolts and it saves a ton of cleanup. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Not sure how you do this? I remove both skid plates (9 or 10 bolts) and when I unscrew the filter it runs all over the side of the motor and the 4wd hardware, what a mess!

The relocation kit looks neat too. Who all primes the oil system before starting after a change? I typically pull the EFI fuse and turn the key until the oil light goes out, then put the fuse back in and start-r-up. It just pains me to hear the motor run and see the oil light still on!

I used to take a plastic grocery bag and slid it under the filter, pull the center down to a point and use a pair of scissors to make a cut, then remove the filter. Oil drains in bag, runs to slit in bag, then drains into drain pan. No mess

I've never had it drip down the block before, I mean it drips out of where you put the oil filter on but nothing to drastic since most of the oil falls right into the bucket...I usually only take off the bottom skid plate covering the oil pan and everything works fine
