I saw the Gladiator at the Detroit auto show last month and it is truly amazing! The thing is all beef, no fluff (side-mounted spare notwithstanding). Fully boxed frame, diesel, solid axles, decent bed that is line-x'd or something, good cab space. But it is large - on par with a full-size standard cab truck.

not having seen this, i'd say it should live up to its name -- the *real* jeep gladiator was a fullsized truck, the predecessor to the J series(the truck in the movie "tremors" was a jeep gladiator), was available with a buick 350.
