Yes I got that call again. This time it was from my friend with the Samurai. The same one that I went to dig out of the snow a month or so ago.

Well this time he got in a bit over his head. He made a bad call as to just what his rig could really do. He had a cell phone and was able to call for help. When help arrived they called for Flight for life. He spent two days in the hospital with a blow to the head and some cracked vertebrae. He is very lucky to just fly away from this, instead of going home in a box.
I went out today and picked up what was left of his truck.

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.

I don't even know how to respond.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />
Other than to say that you've got to be one hell of a good <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> friend, and I'm glad he's made it thus far.

Ouch! That sucks, That must have been a hard hit. I see a fork sticking in that poor truck. I hope he pulls through ok. I would say he need a SWB Monty, the roof intergrity is better. But I know who he would be going to, to get one. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

My gosh, he is lucky to be alive! How did he end up in that predicament?

Very eye-opening pictures. Really stresses the need for roll-protection.

He drove up to the edge of this hill thinking that he might be able to drive down it. He was then unable to back up. The person that was with him was standing on the rear bumper trying to help with traction. When he lost his balance so did the Samurai. He does not remember anything after that.

This hill is about 70 degrees. I parked at the top, ancored to another truck. Then ran out all but about three quarters of the last layer of my winch cable.

After we got it to the top. I drove back to town and picked up my big truck and trailer to haul it home.

He's extremely lucky that truck isn't right-hand drive. Most of us have done foolish things - if we're lucky, we live to learn from it..... I'm glad he lived and hope he's learned a lesson.
