went and talked to the shop that did the work on it today

they couldnt figure it out...

the problem is... it wont engage/ disengage while moving.. you have to stop

and to disengage you have to be going less than like 3mph

what does this sound like?

That is the way my 2000 4runner works. Must stop to engage and go slow to disengage. The book says you should be at full stop to do both. I don't think you have a problem.

in the book it says on the fly engage up to 25mph....

and the shop specifically said they couldnt figure out why it was hard to engage/ disengage

like sometimes its really hard to get it out of 4wd

I have a 5spd and it doesn't like to go into 4wd unless I let off on the gas. As in no shifting into 4wd under load...which makes sense anyway. I changed the transfer case to Redline synth and it shifts much better now.

I forget what year truck you are tallking about now, but the older systems will be hard to get in and out of 4wd if:

1. the tires are not all the same size, or
2. you are driving on pavement

One of your other posts indicated you drove a mile back to the guys house - made me wonder if you aren't on dry pavement. The newer systems would seem not to care about these issues, however. Good luck.

Edit - I just looked at your other two posts on this same topic. You should only have one post as people, like me, are now telling are telling you info someone else already did...and we don't know the year, miles, etc in this string.

min eis hard to shift as well. i think its a combo of getting used to it and changing the TC oil.
