Getting the Wheeling Fever
okay might seem like a dumb question, I am wanting to put a new rear and front memeber in my truck. it is a 93 ext cab 4x4. I was wondering if I could even put a locker in it. I know they did not come with one or was even an option. just wanted to see if I could. been playing with this truck for awhile and learning as I go. Also what gears would be the way to go. as in a ratio. I want to run 33's or 35's but thats it. it will be 3.4 powered. thanks for any and all suggestions.

I'd recommend an aussie locker in the front, and either a detroit in the rear if you dont mind tire wear or retrofit an elocker in the rear. 4.88 gears for 33's and 5.29 gears for 35's and up.

Heres some links for you

With the 3.4? Sounds a little short, don't you think? Us bigger guys seem to be just fine with 4.88-35", same motor & trannies...

thanks for the replies. are e-lockers available for the front also? sounds like a bit more work, but I like the drivability of being able to lock and unlock. mostly a daily driver, but I want to build this thing to take whatever I throw at it. might be overkill but what else is there to spend money on? thats fun for me anyways.
I have seen those aussie lockers. was kinda concerned about the noise, but it sounds like it isn't too bad.
thanks again for all the suggestions. I will probably try and find some lockers and run 4:88's with a 33.

No e-locker for the front. My suggestion would be ARB's F & R, especally the front. 4:88 gears for 33's, 5:29's for 35's.

I vote V6 E-locker 3rd member in the rear axle w/4.88's and an ARB in the front. The IFS uses the 7.5" R&P though, so strength can be an issue. Anybody here busted CV shafts w/a front locker and IFS??

okay thanks for even more sugestions. I will price out what each would cost and go from there. arbs sound great but I believe they are like 650 u.s.? is this right? any ideas as to where the compressor is stored and how would you hook it up? I know newbie questions but I like to be overwhelmed with choices!!!!

no, but my buddy snapped off a cv shaft with an OPEN diff. I wouldnt put a locker in the front of an IFS, but thats just my opinion.

If you get the ARB for the front you might as well get it for the rear too. You will already have the air supply, plus you will have these nice matching switches: picture
