Oh, I'm not saying they won't sell you a shock without measuring, but there are many subtle variations. Lift it 3", with whose springs? Which bumpstops? How much weight? What other mods that might affect it? It only takes a little more effort to go from one-size-fits-most to 'just perfect for the application'.

Good shops probably have a ramp to max your flex. Then measure. Cross-reference it in the book, done.
