i ALWAYS see the threads about the "needle in a haystack" 4.77's and the schemes, plots, plans to find them............SO i guess my question is would you guys be as eager to buy if they were readily available?

i mean if you could buy a 4.77 R&P for the 10 and 12 bolt at a realistic price say $200-ish each is there interest?


i really think that 4.88 would be the way to go..........matches up to available ratios with other axles like Dana 44's

I'm in. The 4.88 would be a good streetable ratio for those running 32's or 33's.

Personally I like the idea of having a 4.77 or 4.88 for my truck. With as many people running IFS lifts and 33's, it seems like a better match then either the 4.56's or the 5.38's. I agree that 4.88's is more desireable. I know Jgalt ordered new 4.77's from Merlin and found that those that were supposed to be for the Dana 44(off a 98 4cyl 4x4 Amigo didn't actually fit his Dana 44. I don't know if this was a fluke, so he just ended up returning them.

I believe they had a stamping on them that sounded referenced 48, where most Dana 44's have a stamp with that number in them(at least that is what I was told) I searched for the thread I asked about this in, but can't seem to find it.

Anyway, I like the idea, and would pay for some. I am not sure if/when I would go SAS, so I don't want to spend the money on 5.38's right now...just won't fit my 33's

I would be interested in 4.88s for my truck. I'm not planning on going bigger than the 32s on the truck now. 33s might be in the future but not right away. 4.88s seem like they would be perfect for my use.

I would be interested, but not right now. It would be nice to have them available though. I think 4.88's would be better, cause you can already get those for several axles including the toy axles.

Had to have been a fluke, I used those gears in my 98 Amigo, and they're still running under Locomigo's truck now....

I'd be interested in the 4.88's, but to be honest, I think the 5.38's are a better fit for the Supercharger -- that thing loves to be up in the rev range...

Would you possibly offer pre-installed 4.88 10 & 12-bolt third members? û And if so, what sort of ballpark would we be talking?


Unless the asking price was stratospheric, personally, I would be a lot more inclined to pony-up if I only had to worry about having the D-44 R&P installed, and could simply drop a new 3rd in the front to match it.

well the thought is that the 4.88 for the 10 bolt would fill the gap for the Rodeo, late amigo, etc owner.......

you could buy a 4.88 10 bolt R&P...or yes a 3rd ready to rock................and match it up to the "off-the-shelf" Dana 44 4.88's that are readily available in any brand you like. Yukon, Spicer, yada, yada, yada.

just to throw something else out there... it would be nice to see someone source together an install kit for the 10 & 12-bolt axles. now that we're seeing aftermarket ratios start springing up... to install these things, you're still left to gathering and re-using stock parts or trying to come up with your own application.

having specific install kits readily available would make shops more willing to take on one of these gear installs I'd assume.
