I looked into a set of 5.38 for my 98 with the V6. They would be great around town and on the trail. But 1/2 my daily commute is on a freeway with a 70mph speed limit. If the roads are dry, 70 is SLOW. With 5.38's the engine would be spinning way too fast on the freeway.

5.13's would be ideal for my case. The 4.88's would be great too.

I would certainly be interested (front only)!

If I'm not mistaken, aren't 4.88's available for the 3.xx D44 carrier? I believe because of the Rubicon?

i guess the 4.77 mythology would disapear

I would buy a set just to help put a silver bullet through all the discussions about those 4.77s.

Besides, these mythical gears are cutting into the unique mystique of Uzi!

Ahhh. now we got the wheels in your head turning. I Would also prefer 4.88's over the 4.77's. The only reason I am after 4.77's is that 5.38's would be too low for my 33's. I wouldn't mind paying 4bengis for a set-o-4.88's. I am thinking about putting a Ford 8.8 in the rear. Does anyone know if the 4.88's are avalible for that axle? The only reason I am going with a 8.8 is the free factor. But then I will still have to adapt disk brakes to it. Hummm I guess I just need a really cheap D44 from one of you Rodeo guys that swapped in a bigger axle.

fielded a couple calls just today for PNW guys looking for Toy "matching" gears for axle swaps.

OH CRAP....i can see it now.............all the Toyota rear to Isuzu 12 bolt swaps w/ 4.88's and a Lockright

i already have jeepers doing rear Rodeo D44 swaps.

Anyone want to buy a set of 4.77 3rd members with ARB lockers installed? I'd better sell while the lure of 4.88s has everyone all pumped up. (Calm down Smiley, I'm not selling... yet)

Personally I'd choose 4.88. I've run 4.77 with 31s, 285s, 33s, and now 34s and they work well. I have the older 3.2 DOHC so someone with a 3.5 or newer 3.2 DOHC should have even better results.

I would buy a 4.88 or 5.13 ring and pinion set for a 12 bolt axle.
