hmm... well, i can say officially that I would not be interested in 'em.

but then, my 91 V6 trooper rolled out of the factory with 4.77's <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />

the 4.88 is the best part of this idea, I've gotta admit... 4.88 is closer to "in the middle" between 4.56 and 5.38, and also the obvious match to other axles is king.

But the other side of the coin is if I had my 'druthers i'd put the $800+ an installed set would cost* and use it to bring my engine some power at a quiet 2500rpm rather than trying to bring my highway RPM's up to the 3300+rpm power range.

in effect, I'd rather have a 3.4L turning 35" tires on 4.56 gears, than a 2.8L turning 35" tires on 4.88's or 5.38's. however I wouldn't want a big block turning 35's on 3.73 gears.

gotta work both sides of the equation smile
