Body Damage is Cool
I got the truck down the phoenix just fine... Started working on replacing the HG at 9AM. Didn't finish untill 1AM. This is insane. Everything that possibly could go wrong went wrong. I'm not even sure I fixed whatever was wrong. The rad had been holding pressure, well positive pressure even when it sat for a week. Figured I had a pinhole leak from the overheating/offroading a few months/weeks ago. Ended up I broke the upper part of a METAL backed guide right about where it bolts on. The rest of the guide is fine... I was alot more work than we thought to open up the valve seats to install EB's dual valve springs and titanium retainers and the wrong locks were sent. After a few pics/emails back and forth, we figured the stock locks fit fine and put it back together.

Starts up, powersteering high pressure hose is blowing massvie bubbly ATF EVERYWHERE. Right from the back of the union to the pump. So disconect that belt and look over on the passenger side... water spraying... cold water... GAS!?!?!?!!!!! turn off engine, clean up gas, tighen connections...

AHRSGEAfalsd!@!!

Got everything back together, more power than ever! Runs great except for the whole no powersteering. Burns thought the gears nicely. I really can't belive I'm driving a 4x4 much less a 4cyl... Just ask ZUK... I took him for a ride a few weeks ago.

I'm really thinking of selling it. I can't keep up with this crap anymore. It's prolly the fatigue talking but if someone showed up with 3k for it, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I don't drive it anymore because of the company car. I'd prolly hate myself forever letting this thing go but who knows.

I'm going to bed... I gotta get up and go on my camping trip... I'm not sure I'm going to take the truck now because of the no power steering and I just don't trust it anymore. I don't need it breaking down 3 hours from home.

Go camping...... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> Can't take a company car up the Crown King can you? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />

At least with a co car, you can keep the miles off 'er and still have a sweet ride when you're 40! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Take the truck, geez...if I can negotiate a left turn at -50 with Armstrong steering, I think you can manage an outing.

Go pop a couple aspirin and hit the hay; tomorrow will be MUCH better! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Hey, sorry about the locks but I learned something. When I had the Titanium spring retainers made to fit the domestic size spring and the metric valve stem, I wanted them to grip locate instead of float locate, so I had the locks made too.
*Now what I never did was check to see if the stock valve locks would work, I must be slipping (can't be, I am only 61..*or is it 62?..I forget..)
Anyway, I got to the shop today, yep, still sick but...Guess what? The stock valve locks are a perfect fit!

*LOL**..Now I feel silly, I spent good money to have a part made that I already had almost identical on my shelf....Only difference is the factory valve lock lets the valve float at the keeper slightly, my own design grips and only the spring itself forces rotation.

*Interesting...*nuther option to confuse the issue....*EB

*Beats the he** outa me!....*LOL**...

Well, I'm not going to sell it. Truck is still too much fun to drive.

Both Toyotas did fine, mine with strong-arm steering and dad's 2wd locked and weber'ed wannabe 4x4. smile

Springs are a nice addition to the valvetrain. I was nice to it all weekend just to be safe. I did a 0-60 with my buddy in he passenger seat, (there goes my power2weight ratio) and now the clutch is wierd... I'm going to contact centerforce and see whats up. At high rpms, the clutch locks up and pressing the clutch pedal does nothing. Gotta let the rpm's down and then it will work again. Changed my ~12 sec to an 18sec... grrrr

I've never heard those M/T's burn out for so long... it was pretty cool... Added another 3 sec to my 0-60 lol
