I was just wondering if anyone has ever swaped a fold down pup type tailgate into an amigo. Is there an easy swap?

I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone doing this, but what I do know is that the early Amigo was based on the pickup (unlike the later models which are 2-door Rodeos) so it might have similar dimensions. Honestly, though, thinking about it, you might have an easier time ripping the mounts off your current door and replacing them with some pickup-type hinges and hangers from JC Whitney or something. Then you know you'd have an exact fit, you'd just have to make the bracketry work...

I saw one at a car show a while back, unfortunately I was never able to talk to the owner.

I'm pretty certain it was a Rodeo fold-down tailgate that was fitted to an Amigo opening... IIRC the p'up tailgate opening is different. Regardless, you're looking at some sheet metal and reinforcement work. Not an easy swap, but probably not the hardest, either.

bah! Thanks anyways. My tailgate is all smashed up and I was just thinking if I could get a cheap pup tailgate, and the swap was easy, then I'd go for it. But it looks like that won't happen for me.
